Penrith Beach returns with extended opening hours

Western Sydney Lakes welcomes the NSW Government’s announcement of the opening of Penrith Beach for the 2025/26 Summer, further cementing the site’s role as a vibrant recreational destination for Western Sydney residents.

The beach is set to officially open on Sunday 7 December with extended opening hours from 7am to 7pm during peak season. This season will see Penrith Beach continuing to welcome beach-goers until April 2026.

Building on the success of previous summer seasons that attracted over 330,000 visitors, the extended hours will provide greater access and flexibility for local residents and visitors to enjoy the unique water-based amenities at Penrith Beach.

This initiative aligns with Western Sydney Lakes’ vision to create a cooling oasis that addresses urban heat challenges while delivering economic and social benefits to the region.

Western Sydney Lakes general manager Andrew Bondini said the organisation is proud to see the continued support for recreational facilities that have become central to the region’s landscape.

“With Penrith Beach attracting over 330,000 visitors since its opening in December 2023, we’ve seen firsthand how valuable accessible water recreation is for Western Sydney,” said Bondini.

“Western Sydney Lakes has made significant investment and dedicated extensive resources to transform this former quarry into a safe, welcoming, and environmentally sustainable destination. The extended hours will allow even more people to experience the benefits of this unique space, supporting community wellbeing and local economic growth.”

Penrith Beach exemplifies how thoughtful water management can simultaneously address climate adaptation, social equity, and environmental education – core pillars of Western Sydney Lakes’ long-term strategy for the region.

Western Sydney Lakes is a joint venture between Boral, Holcim, and Heidelberg Australia.
